Huzzah! A new year, a clean slate, a new writing project. Though our holiday celebrations were fun, I’m so glad to put the demands of the season behind me and get back to work. Does anyone else feel that way?
And how cool to start the year off with another Insecure Writers’ Support Group blog hop! The purpose of IWSG: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds! Thanks to this month’s hosts, Patricia Lynne, Lisa Buie-Collard, Kim Lajevardi, and Fundy Blue! Pop over to their blogs and say hi.
This month’s IWSG Day Question: What are your favorite and least favorite questions people ask you about your writing?
My favorite: “Tell me about your book.” I can happily natter on for far too long about my imaginary friends. Last night, someone said, “Wow. They become like real people to you, don’t they?” Yup.
My least favorite: “How many books have you sold?”
A. Not as many as I’d like, nor as many as the questioner probably expects, and
B. I don’t really know, since most of my sales are eBooks. I’ve yet to figure out how to decode Amazon’s vague reports, and I don’t yet have a report from my publisher. Yet another techie bit to learn, no doubt.
I’ll just keep plugging away and have faith that the best way to sell more books is to write more books. Book Two in the Book Nirvana series is awaiting final approval, and I’m starting on Book Three.
Are you astonished, published authors, at how much tech you’ve had to learn? I’m about to dip my toes into Scrivener. Wish me luck.
By the way, ahem, if you or someone you know loves steamy contemporary romance, be sure to check out Through the Red Door.

Yeah, everyone should read “Through the Red Door” — I certainly enjoyed it 🙂
There’s so much tech, writing marketing copy and other scary things to learn once you get published — and they change all the time. LOL. Have you checked out Nick Stephenson’s site? Your First 10k readers. I always learn something new from his emails — and free webinars. Joanna Penn (The Creative Penn) also has great info for authors.
I hope you have a successful 2019:-)

I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed TTRD! Your new author website looks fabulous. I’ll check out Nick Stephenson’s site–thanks for the recommendation. I do listen to Joanna Penn’s excellent podcast.
🙂
Good luck with Scrivener! I posted something today about that on my IWSG post: http://www.raimeygallant.com
I’m also happy the holidays are behind me. Back to work! 🙂
I like both your answers. Amazon is a mystery. 🙂

Oh, gosh, sales. Always a sticking point, isn’t it? Much better to talk about your story than your sales. More satisfying, certainly.
Those are actually questions I haven’t seen yet. Good ones, too! I usually stumble when someone asks what my book is about, so I try to keep little elevator pitches in my head.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, dear lady! No, you aren’t the only one who breathes a sigh of relief when the holidays are over. It feels good to get back into the ol’ groove again, doesn’t it?
