This week’s topic from the Marketing for Romance Authors 52-week blog challenge is Let’s Play: What if Time and Money Weren’t Issues. This is a blog hop, so pop over to the MFRW website and check out the other entries. http://mfrw52week.blogspot.com/
If a huge pot of money were to land in my lap, the first thing I’d do is pay off my step-son’s student debt and pay for my daughter and her husband to finish their education. Let’s take care of the nieces and nephews’ education as well. It’s criminal how much debt today’s college students must accumulate just to gain access to a profession.
That taken care of, I’d get back to writing, but not in my current location. Let’s see…
Purchase one: A house with an ocean view, somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. Requirements include a room for exercise equipment, because I don’t relish going out when the weather is dreary and cold; a spacious, modern kitchen; his & her bathrooms, plenty of space for guests, and a covered deck or patio with a fire pit for enjoying the view no matter the weather. A fireplace here and there. Most important of all: an office that looks out over the sea. How soothing that would be, and how inspiring!
A healthy writer needs regular exercise breaks. How glorious it would be to simply trot down my private stairs to the beach and stroll along the shore until my muscles unkink and my thoughts roll free. And what a great way to reconnect with hubs during the day—when he’s not out golfing, that is.
Some of this bounty would be budgeted for a professional publicist, so I never again have to juggle promo time and writing time. What a luxury!
What, there’s more money available? Well then, let’s start a center for the arts, where kids from underprivileged backgrounds can paint, and dance, and make music, and take photos—and write, of course. Everyone needs a creative outlet, and our education system hasn’t prioritized the arts as it should. What the heck—the building’s just standing there empty while the kids are in school, so let’s open it up to adults during those hours and in the evenings.
What’s your big-spender, free-time dream?
I’m sooo with you on the beach walking!!!
I don’t remember ever aspiring to having a lot of money. I don’t want to be poor, mind you, but being rich holds no allure for me. However, if a boatload of money were suddenly dropped into my lap, I’d want to set up education accounts for all of our grandchildren. And then, I’d be an anonymous philanthropist. It would be awesome to be able to help people and organizations that need it.
I love the center for the arts idea and paying off loved ones’ debt.
I share that dream, a dreamy, inspiring place to live and work and help the community, too.
