Today it’s my pleasure to interview a fellow Wild Rose Press author, Charlotte O’Shay, and share her new release, Forever in a Moment, the latest addition to WRP’s Deerbourne Inn series.
Charlotte was born in New York City into big family and then married into another big family. Negotiating skills honed at the dinner table led her to a career in the law. But after four beautiful children joined the crowded family tree, she traded her legal career to write about happily ever afters in the City of Dreams. She loves to challenge her heroines and heroes with a crisis and watch them figure out who they are while they fall in love.
A stormy encounter…
Samantha DeMartino’s Christmas wedding is two weeks away when her fiancé calls the whole thing off. Word on the street: his cold feet are being warmed by an old flame.
With her well-ordered world in complete disarray, Sam’s friends convince her to go on her honeymoon—alone. A week away from the city and her demanding corporate career at a charming Vermont inn, could be just what she needs to figure out next steps.
Between his twenty-four seven work schedule on his family’s farm and teaching tourists to ski, Jed Armstrong’s too busy to think about how lonely he is…until Sam sings her way into his life during a Christmas blizzard. Now he has to figure out a way to convince her to stay.
Can a vivacious city girl find forever with a reclusive farmer?
Will her secret keep her from trying?

Meet the Author
Thank You Rhonda for inviting me to your gorgeous blog. I’m so happy to chat with you about my love of all things Romance and my new release Forever in a Moment.
What inspired you to write this story?
When our publisher put out a call for submissions for a new series, I saw a ton of challenge and opportunity for me as an author.
The series, called Deerbourne Inn, is set in a small, fictional Vermont town. I figured since my stories usually take place in and around NYC, the setting alone would be a great way to stretch as an author. The book also had to be novella length, which was new to me as well. I decided the heat level for the story would be a bit steamy but nothing near as sizzling as my other books, a chance for me to show the developing romance without a lot of ‘open door’ scenes. Finally, I really admire my fellow authors at The Wild Rose Press, so I wanted to contribute my story to the series.
The publisher required us to set our novella around a holiday. That was all it took for Samantha’s story to come to life and give me my premise.
Forever in a Moment is a fish out of water story about a jilted bride who goes on her honeymoon trip alone. I added to Samantha’s misery by bringing her to this small town right before the new year. For me, New Year’s Eve can be the most awkward of holidays even in the best circumstances. What would be worse than being newly single and spending the new year with strangers in a strange place? And yes, the book releases April 10, though it takes place in the last weeks of December, but I figure if Game of Thrones can make winter come in April so can I…
I wrote the entire story in less than a month. Samantha was like a friend who called me to spill the story of how she found the love of her life in the most unlikely of circumstances. I just wrote down her words as fast as she said them. (Like all New Yorkers, Sam talks a mile a minute.) I had to stop her at 39,997 words because a 40K novella was my limit.
I loved seeing was how Sam could rely on her friends in a time of need. Yay Girlfriends! I also loved how Sam navigated meeting new people and how her engaging, empathetic personality drew people to her— including the brooding Jed.
Any advice for aspiring writers?
Read a lot. Write every day. Challenge yourself and be open to learn. Believe in yourself and DON’T GIVE UP.
Which authors have inspired you?
I’m floored by the genius of writers who know the ending of each part of a multi-book series, in any genre but especially a mystery series, before they even start writing. So I guess Gabaldon, George RR Martin, Rowling but plenty of lesser known authors as well.
That makes me more of a plantser. I usually plot out the broad outlines of a story, but inevitably secondary characters speak up and tell me they need a story of their own. There’s a secondary character in Forever in a Moment, Karla Payne, who’s just begging for her own story. I’ve already started writing it.
