It’s always a thrill when a new book baby arrives!

See that big, squinty smile? It’s such a thrill to open a box of books that you actually wrote! I’m looking forward to the first annual Romance in Bookstores Day, where I’ll be at King’s Books in Tacoma signing copies of Runaway Love Story, as well as Through the Red Door.

For today’s Sunday Snippet, here’s a scene from a date gone awry. Doug shows up at Great-Aunt Maxie’s house to pick up Laurel, but when Maxie drops a wine bottle and cuts herself, Doug must improvise. After cleaning up the mess and bandaging Maxie’s cut hand, he dashes out for Thai takeout. Hey, a date for three is better than no date at all.

“I’ll take more prawns.” Laurel nabbed one with her chopsticks, bit into it, and moaned, “Sooo good.”

His imagination flew to other scenarios where she might moan like that. Hopefully, no sriracha would be involved.

“Just one more, eggroll.” Maxie winked. “How nice your new boyfriend is a doctor.”

                “He’s a teacher, Maxie.”

She glanced at her bandaged hand. “You sure?”

He chuckled. “My paycheck proves it.” He noticed a smear of peanut sauce at the corner of Laurel’s mouth. “Here, you’ve got a—” He leaned in, dabbed at the spot with his napkin. Her plump lips parted, her breath whispered against his hand, and his impatient cock inched upward. Again.

All throughout dinner, he’d battled for self-control. First, it was the sultry way she slurped her Pad Thai noodles, her tongue flicking out to chase the last bit. When she licked creamy curry sauce from her fingers, he nearly lost it. That pink tongue was going to be the death of him.

Book Two in the Book Nirvana Series, steamy contemporary romance set in an indie bookshop in Eugene, Oregon.

Fierce passion or long-cherished dreams…she can’t hang onto both.

Chasing a big-city art gallery job, Laurel detours to Eugene, Oregon to help her spitfire great aunt into assisted living. While on a run, she’s harassed by a group of teens until a tall, broad-shouldered hottie rescues her by pretending to be her boyfriend–with a kiss that makes her wish it were true. But she’s only passing through.

Their fierce chemistry burns up the sheets—and the couch, the shower, the woods…but falling in love could cost Laurel more than she’s willing to sacrifice. She can’t stay in Eugene, and he can’t leave. His only hope is to convince her those big-city lights have nothing on her inner sparkle.
