Vampire Morgan D’Arcy has everything except what he most desires…a woman he has loved since the day she was born…Isabeau.
Doesn’t that sound tasty? Today I’m delighted to introduce another Wild Rose Press author, Linda Nightingale, whose latest release, Sinners’ Opera, is the perfect spicy tale for Halloween.
Morgan D’Arcy is an English lord, a classical pianist, and a vampire. He has everything except what he desires most—Isabeau. As the Angel Gabriel he’s steered her life and career choice, preparing her to become Lady D’Arcy.
Many forces oppose Morgan’s daring plan—not the least of which is Vampyre law.
Isabeau Gervase is a brilliant geneticist. Though she no longer believes in angels, she sees a ticket to a Nobel Prize in Gabriel’s secrets—secrets that have led her to a startling conclusion. Gabriel isn’t human, and she fully intends to identify the species she named the Angel Genome. Morgan is ready to come back into Isabeau’s life, but this time as a man not an angel. Will he outsmart his enemies, protect his beloved and escape death himself? For the first time in eternity, the clock is ticking.
Dare to peek inside?
Isabeau halted inches from Morgan, and a wonderful sense of release flooded her. Against a backdrop of stone and fragrant flower, he stood alone. People moved but they were outside the sphere of power he radiated.
“Isabeau.” His voice still enchanted, but his expression twisted her heart.
A band tightened around her chest. Why was he frowning?
Morgan didn’t touch her with his hands. His gaze touched her like a physical caress. “You needn’t go home with him.”
She shook her head. “I can’t just leave him.”
His voice dropped an octave, eyes dark, stormy. “Will you sleep with him?”
The question was too personal for strangers. Yet she wasn’t offended. He took her hands, and he took her breath away. She longed to counter with, “Will you sleep with the brunette tonight?” but, gazing into his eyes, she couldn’t speak.
“You hesitate. Is it such a difficult question? Are you going to bed with him?” He trapped his lower lip between sharp-looking incisors.
She glanced at his hands—cool, strong, elegant—and his grip tightened. “No, not tonight. Nor ever again I think.”
How could total strangers speak vows, ignore polite banter to dive to the heart? But they weren’t strangers, were they? She didn’t know when, but her belief that Morgan was Gabriel had solidified. Too many similarities teased her; coincidence not a word in her vocabulary.
The anger faded from his eyes, again luminescent blue. “Good.”
People scattered to a staccato of rain. A hand at her waist, he guided her into the shadow of an eave, shielding her from the storm. Sheet lightning flashed across the sky. Thunder crashed as the storm gathered momentum. Even in darkness, she could see his eyes. He seemed to have stopped breathing, seemed on the verge of a confession. She waited, trembling inside.
“I don’t quite know what to say.” His gaze drifted to her deep-cut bodice. His eyebrows flickered mischievously. “I like your dress.”
The boyish compliment surprised a laugh from her. “Thanks. You look pretty good in a tux.”
His expression sobered. He stared at her lips. “I want to kiss you.”
Isabeau’s limbs felt heavy. She yearned to lie down. In his arms. Her hand found his smooth cheek. “Not a very good idea. People are gawking at us already.”
“Let’s give them something to talk about.”

Let’s meet the author.
After 14 years in Texas, Linda just returned home to her roots. She has seven published novels, four of which are available from Audible.com in audio. For many years, she bred, trained and showed Andalusian horses. So, she’s seen a lot of this country from the windshield of a truck pulling a horse trailer. Our local author has won several writing awards, including the Georgia Romance Writers’ Magnolia Award and the SARA Merritt. She retired from a career as a legal assistant at MD Anderson Cancer Center to write full time.
She has 2 wonderful sons—one in Texas; one in England—and 4 equally marvelous grandchildren.
Linda, what do you love about the genre you write in?
Fiction of any kind, but particularly paranormal , sci-fi or fantasy gives you freedom to allow your Muse (imagination) to run wild. I don’t always write within these genres of romance. I’ve also written a contemporary romantic suspense and have two half-finished fantasy romances. I like to write across the board and not be tied down by the so-called genre of the book.
Do you write in other genres?
Yes. With the release of Sinners’ Opera, I’lll have eight published books (Gambler’s Choice, Love For Sale, Morgan D’Arcy: A Vampyre Rhapsody, Her General in Gray, Gylded Wings, Sinners’ Obsession, and Sinners’ Opera). The represent Romantic Suspense, Sci=fi Romance, Ghost, vampire and a dark fantasy—angels.
What’s your favorite part of the writing life?
The burning creative streak that sometimes hits, and the story plays like a movie in my head. Writing is only hampered then by how fast I can type, and I’m a fast typist.
What do you do for fun when you’re not writing?
I’m a fan of cars, particularly sports cars (though I had to grow up one day, and I just traded my sports car for a sweet little SUV). I also like dressing up and hosting my friends to anything from a formal dinner party to a high tea (dressy). I guess I just like dressing up. I love horses and used to ride for hours. Horses are very spiritual animals, and the love for them stays with you all your life. I am addicted to on-line shopping—much to my credit card’s dismay—and am currently looking at a piano with a player system.
Do you have any particular writing quirks? A special object, snack, music, etc. that helps you with your writing process?
I like wine when I write but don’t often indulge. Depending on the flavor of the book, I will choose music to listen to. I also like scented candles, but when the white-hot stream of creativity strikes, I could write in a train station.
Any advice for aspiring writers?
You’ve heard this before – Persevere. One year I left my Christmas tree up and decorated it with my rejections. I started writing Sinners’ Opera, then The Vampyre Effect in 1992. It wasn’t my first book published. I’d written one book with a very sensitive plot line and Gemini Rising was the first to be published by a Canadian publisher. I never, never thought this book would be published. Just goes to show that a few publishers are publishing taboo books. It is now called Her Brother’s Wife and available at Lot’s Cave Publishing under my pseudonym, Bianca Swan.
Authors always seem to have a teetering To Be Read pile. What’s in yours?
What isn’t? I have lots of author friends with good books, and I enjoy anything to do with Charles II and the English Civil War as well as Edward VIII who abdicated the throne of England to marry an American divorcee.
I love all sorts of fiction and nonfiction, but I can’t abide a protagonist who keeps making dumb, self-destructive decisions. What makes you put down a book without finishing?
The same thing really. Or trite or poor writing. I quite like a lot of narrative and description. (Anne Rice and Tanith Lee again I loved Silver Metal Lover, and it, in part, was the inspiration for Love For Sale.
Which authors have inspired you?
Anne Rice’s novels were the inspiration for my earlier books and probably for the later ones, too. I adore Tanith Lee, and as I said, Silver Metal Lover, was partially inspiration for my sci-fi romance about sentient androids, Love For Sale. If you haven’t read Tanith Lee or her book about androids, I highly recommend it.
