This week, it’s my pleasure to introduce Hannah Leone, heroine of Love, Legacy, and Little Green Aliens.

Hi there. (straightens her crisp blazer, flashes a brilliant smile, and switches on her voice recorder) I’m looking forward to today’s interview.

Author whispers in her ear.

Oh, you’re here to interview me? (shrugs gamely) Well, that’s a switch—but sure, why not? What do you want to know?

My first impression of Xander Anagnos?

Well, in the moment, I was too shocked to notice details. I mean, it’s not everyday the first words you hear out of a guy’s mouth are “Call 911!”

But it didn’t take long to notice how jaw-droppingly gorgeous he is, and when he clung to me like a drowning man and wept in my arms, well…whose heart wouldn’t melt just a little?

So yeah, I was attracted to him from the start, the kind of magnetism that hooks you hard and won’t let go. Have you ever felt that? (chuckles self-consciously) I guess some would call it lust at first sight, but considering the circumstances—finding his uncle dead on his office floor—the timing was not ideal.

So, why didn’t we just hook up? A couple reasons:

First, my mom, Editor-In-Chief of the Trappers Cove Beacon, had just dropped a bomb on me—the Beacon was in deep financial doo-doo and faced imminent closure. So you can imagine how desperate I was to find a big story to save one of Washington State’s last surviving small-town newspapers—one that my family had been running since the late 1800s!

Second, Xander’s plans for Souvenir Planet, our town’s biggest tourist magnet, were a freakin’ disaster! People come to Gus’s shop (may he rest in peace) from all over the West Coast to buy alien-themed tchotchkes, from T-shirts to mugs to toilet paper holders, and to send messages to outer space via Gus’s Cosmic Transmitter.

Gus’s shop is wacky, weird fun, and Xander just didn’t get that. In fact, the hard-headed Greek hunk seemed to think he could do just as well selling those cliché “Live, Laugh, Love” signs. Ugh.

Xander’s plans spelled disaster for his shop, the Beacon, and Trappers Cove. If you have a Leo in your life, you know how fiercely we protect our loved ones, and no one loves TC more than I do.

So, to say Xander and I got off to a rocky start is the understatement of the millennium. And when I accidentally set a bunch of UFO believers on Xander’s tail, well…it took a lot more than happy underpants feelings to overcome that blunder.

(grins and blushes) But we found our way back together, and along the way, Xander and I taught each other valuable lessons about letting go of past trauma and opening our minds to fresh possibilities.

I hope you’ll love our story as much as Xander and I loved living it. Trust me, there’s lots of laughter woven in with the tears and strife. And the steamy bits are truly incendiary!
